Milton Keynes Storm Under 18s (Division 2)

Result:             21st October 2007. MK Storm 13 v. Bristol Bulldogs 0

(6-0, 1-0, 6-0)

Milton Keynes registered a comfortable victory against a spirited, if limited Bristol side, whose fourth successive heavy defeat leaves them anchored to the foot of the table.

Starting the match with three goals in as many minutes from Jacob Heron (00:40), Josh Nicklin (02:04) and David Coffey (03:46), MK all but finished the game as a contest. But with the Bristol netminder Laurence Lawson performing heroics between the pipes, MK had to wait until the final minutes of the first period to extend their lead. This they did with three quickfire goals from Paul Halford (17:56 & 19:19) and Martyn Snape (18:08). Quick skating and crisp passing were the architects of all MK's goals.

In the second period MK seemed a little flat, and with Lawson continuing to excel in the Bristol goal, only a strike from Jacob Heron (37:13) extended their lead.

MK increased the pace in the final period and inevitably more goals followed as Bristol's defence tired under the MK onslaught. Ross Green bagged his first (44:11), Snape (47:50) picked up his second, Halford (51:17) completed his hat-trick, and Heron (54:45 & 58:59) helped himself to a four-timer. Harry Bowers (59:09) closed the scoring with his first of the season.

Whilst Bristol may not offer the sternest test, MK completed their task relatively easily. Almost every goal resulted from good passing and positional play, and no doubt this will have pleased the coaches. Halford's hat-trick will have given him plenty of confidence, and although Jake Scriven had a relatively quiet afternoon, he can be pleased with his first shutout in this league. MK must take this form into their next match with table-topping Haringey, if they are to restore their A league status for next season.
