Storm Under 14s (Division 1)
Result: 4th November 2007. M
K Storm 2 v. Swindon 3
MK Storm U14 lose narrowly to
Swindon in last minute
MK Storm U14 put on a battling display of hockey against
Swindon on Sunday 4 November narrowly losing 2-3. Storm went 2-0 up in the first period with goals from David Carson and Tom Mboya at 7.45 and 13.49. Storm played some well constructed hockey and always looked in contention.
Swindon were obviously rattled and notched up 3 first period penalties enabling Storm to keep attack.
The second period was equally strongly contested and
Swindon shaded it by bringing back one goal at 24.28. Both sides were a little more ragged but Storm were still in front and
Swindon were still struggling to find any rhythm.
The turning pint came when Tom Mboya picked up a 2+10 at the end of the second period which meant Storm had to most of the final period with re-organised lines.
At 36.49
Swindon drew level. The frantic final few minutes saw some terrific defending from Storm and one or two opportunities to score. With 34 seconds left
Swindon scored the third to go ahead for the first time in the match. In a last ditch attempt to score Storm pulled their net minder and had 3 shots on goal but sadly none went in.
Overall a terrific performance which, despite the loss, should give the whole squad confidence that they can compete with the best in the league |
