Milton Keynes Storm Under 14s (Division 1)

 Result:              26th January 2008. M K Storm 2 v. Romford 2

MK Storm U14 played an exceptional game of spirited team hockey to gain another point from Romford this season.  The game started at a frenetic pace with both teams showing attacking intent.  IT was a surprise when a speculative shot on the turn from Romford s Pitchley snuck under Jordan Hedley s pad to open the scoring at 1.48.  Luckily for Storm Romford were still congratulating themselves for going ahead when the re-start puck was dropped.  Straight form the face-off David Carson weaved the puck into the net to make the scores even after only 8 further seconds of play!  The period flew by with end to end play but both defences remained firm.

In the second period the high energy play continued with both teams creating scoring opportunities which could not be converted.  At 19.13 Romford worked a good opening for Philip Smith to score with a slap shot from the high slot.  Despite this setback Storm remained resolute and created further chances.  At 26.21 Ryan Gdeke popped up on the left wing to delivery a teasing cross which Nathan Carmichael nearly bundled in at the far post but the net minder got something on it, only to find David Carson following up with speed to slot home the rebound.

In the third period both teams were obviously going for the win.  If anything the pace seemed to quicken and both teams had good quality chances to score.  The checking became more vigorous as well with a couple of Storm players taking a knock.  Check of the game must go to Keegan Starkey who hit the biggest Romford player at a crucial moment in front of goal.

Overall a good team performance with plenty of work and commitment to compliment the skill on display.
