Milton Keynes Storm Under 14s (Division 1)

 Result:              16th December 2007. M K Storm 10 v. Bracknell 6

MK Storm beat Bracknell in a seesaw game of high scoring.

Christmas is the season for generosity and MK Storm showed true Christmas spirit by keeping Bracknell in this game far longer than they should have been.   Storm started well with Ross Tippet opening the scoring after 40 seconds taking a gift wrapped opportunity in emphatic fashion.  Some casual defending gave Bracknell a chance to shoot at 4.26 and they equalised with a speculative shot from distance.   Stung by this Ross tippet was again on the mark at 4.52 to put Storm ahead 2-1.  A quiet five minutes on the scoring front ensued to be broken by Tom Mboya at 9.41.  The feeling of superiority lasted 14 second when some sloppy defending allowed Bracknell back into the game (for 3-2).    A period of Storm dominance then spanned the next few shifts with goals from Fraser Green (11.21) and a shorthanded goal from Nathan Carmichael after some good approach play by David Carson.  Over confidence loomed large at 5-2 and Storm switched off for the final minute of the first period gifting Bracknell to score two unanswered goals.  So the period finished a at 5-4.

The second period saw a much tighter Storm keep Bracknell under control.  However, Bracknell did score first to make it 5-5 at 19.47.  Discipline began to slip on the Bracknell team and the exchange of gifts altered from goals to blows, and two roughing penalties allowed Storm the chance to exert their authority.  The second Bracknell penalty resulted in a match penalty.  Storm capitalised with two power play goals (one each from David Carson (22.08) and Tom Mboya (22.37)) to make the score line a much more reasonable 7-5.  All seemed to be going well until 2 minutes from the end of the second period when Ross Tippet and the Bracknell number 6 exchanged blows.   The result was a match penalty for Tippet and 2+2 for the Bracknell player.

In the third period Storm finally started to play the way they can and looked well in control scoring early through David Carson (33.12) but then conceding a breakaway.  Keegan Starkey popped up to slot a rebound on the re-jigged line one at 37.17 and David Carson finished the scoring at 42.57 to make the final score a staggering 10-6.

The shot count was well in Storms favour at 30 to 12.
