 Result:              12th January 200. Harringey 5 v M K Storm 0

What a difference a week makes !!!!

A lack-lustre MK Storm U14 failed to score against an energetic Haringey team only a week after having beaten the same squad 5-3.   The opening exchanges were finely balanced with both teams skating fast and looking to score.  Haringey won the battle to score first when a Storm breakout went wrong in centre ice.  With all five Storm players heading up ice Haringey gained possession on the centre line and delivered a quick pass to a forward who they had left patrolling our blue line at 4.22 it was 1-0 them.  For the rest of the period honours remained even and Storm rattled Haringey with a number of well constructed attacks which went close to scoring time after time Carson and Carmichael both had good chances to score but were thwarted by a Haringey net minder who was on blistering form.  AS the Storm frustration at not scoring grew unfortunately discipline in defence started to wane giving Haringey more room to play.

In the second period Storm failed to shake off their bad day at the office and team play seemed to disappear altogether.  The determination was present but the discipline was not.  Haringey seized on the disarray and started to convert chances into goals.  The second at 24.29 was a carbon copy of the first.  Goals 3 and 4 followed at 28.08 and 31.10 as Storm stretched themselves in their own attempt to score.  All thought of playing as a tight cohesive unit now seemed to have been abandoned.  Passes became more desperate leading to easier defence for Haringey.  To their credit the Storm third line of Gdeke, Cotter and Taylor held their play together better than most and came mighty close to scoring on two occasions.   The final goal came in the last second of the game with a well hit but speculative slap shot from the blue line which found the top corner of the goal.  The Haringey keeper deserved his man of the match award and without his magnificent display Storm would have at least made a score.

Overall this was a very disappointing performance from Storm against a team that did not have more skill, but, tellingly, had more controlled effort and cohesion.

Shots on goal were 10-9- for Sophie and 13-9 for Haringey.
