Milton Keynes Storm Under 12's

MK Storm run out of steam

After losing some ground on the leaders last week, here was the perfect chance to get it back. Today's visitors were the leaders Bracknell, unbeaten to date.

MK started well and Macca was soon testing out the leading Netminder in the division.  Callum and Garth were quickly into action though seeing off a Bulldog attack. Garth found Luc from this and he tried to make inroads. When Luc was tackled Ryan was quickly there to pressure the puck carrier. On the change it was Thomas and Jack defending stoutly as Bracknell piled forward. Jack found Luc and he stormed off down the right wing and beat two men before sending over a lovely cross that unfortunately just evaded the on rushing Matthew. Storm continued in the ascendancy when Dougie, Emma and Macca fashion a chance, but Macca's shot was saved. Bracknell then fell foul of the ref and soon had two men in the bin. Ryan, Macca and Matt danced all around the Bracknell D but there was no way through and the Bumblebees survived. Encouraged by their survival Bracknell turned up the heat but a fine save from Jordan and great defence from Thomas prevented a goal. MK had another PowerPlay late on in the first period but again couldn't capitalise. Once back at full strength Bracknell search for the lead but MK's defence held firm and the period ended goalless.

Bracknell started the second in the same vein as they ended the first, but Garth was strong and saw them off. Emma chased well, won the puck and put Ryan away but he was soon stopped and the pressure was back on MK. Thomas cleared one attack and Jordan made a fine stop, then when Thomas fed Matt, Matt skated through the Bees D and fired to the minders left but he pulled off a great save. Bracknell attacked again, we all called for offside but none was given and the puck was duly despatched 0-1. Bracknell sensed blood and were soon in search for the second and only a great save from Jordan prevented it. Matt attacked from the clearance and after moving forward he sent the puck across the area but it just evaded Macca. Ashley tried to break through as he attacked up the right but Bracknell's defence was strong. Storm looked set for a one goal deficit at the end of the second when a penalty was called on Garth with 10 seconds to go. I think complacency must have set it because Bracknell had made in 0-2 just 4 seconds later.

In the final period MK seemed to have run out of steam and although there were efforts from Matt and Macca, one even when we were shorthanded!! It was Bracknell who added to the score on 32:21, 0-3. Ashley and Macca tried again to no avail as did Ryan but the shutout remained. Bracknell added a forth with 5 minutes to go.

MK played a cracking first period where we matched Bracknell in every department. A dodgy goal and then a lapse in concentration let Bracknell off the hook. In the third, tired legs played their part and Bracknell eased to their 10th win. It gets no easier though as its Bracknell again next week and this time away from home!!
