Storm U10 s took on the recently formed Slough Jets team at the Hive, after their split from Romford on Sunday evening. In the Jets previous outing they forfeited to the Bees but having been loaned three players from the Bees
team still lost by 51 goals, so anything but a solid win for Storm was expected and that is exactly what happened as Storm comfortably won 0-28.
It took only 22 seconds to start the scoring As John slotted home from Lewis pass, then on the same shift Lewis scored after a point pass from Jack W.
The second line went one better on their first shift As Andrew P scored twice assisted twice by Jake who split the scoring with a goal of his own.
Bryce almost scored on a breakaway on the first third line shift after Andrew C in nets had made a good save and deflected the puck straight to Alex in D who found Bryce with his clearance.
Harry scored his first on the next shift, then Andrew P bagged his hat-trick courtesy of Ashley and Daniel s set-up.
Once again Young Bryce had another breakaway opportunity on the next shift that just slipped wide but Henry started the third line scoring after he was well picked out by Luke.
Then next first line shift notched up four goals as Firstly Harry scored his second, then Lewis did the same. John Cawley scored from an outrageous angle before they scored the goal of the game as Jets cleared the zone but a wayward pass missed the most forward player. Jack chased it down behind the net and with two Jet players converging, beat the first and laid it up to John C near the blue line. A quick pass up the boards found Harry near the Jets blueline and his first time pass to centre was picked up by Lewis who was free on goal. Two seconds later and the puck was nestling in the net for his Hat-trick.
The final goal of the half gave Harry his hat-trick and a score line of 0-14 to Storm.
With the game being so one sided coach Jobbers swapped the lines around putting the defence up front, but it was still down to Jake to open the scoring with a breakaway from the MK zone. Defender Ashley then took to his new role with some aplomb as he slipped one passed the Jets netminder with ease.
Henry scored his second on the next shift followed by Hallden s first quickly followed by Harry s fourth. Andrew, not to be outdone bagged his fourth from a wrist shot from just inside the blue line, before Sam Jackson scored another breakaway. If that wasn t enough he then set up Ashley for his second.
Henry grabbed his hat-trick on the next shift before a lull in play for over six minutes that didn t see a goal scored, however it did show up some of the defensive qualities of the new lines who weren t as disciplined as the regular guys and let Jets have a few chances to breakaway -Something for the coaches to work on for the future? More often than not they were chased down but twice they got through on net and let go shots that needed to be saved by Alex.
Normal service was resumed though with 6:22 to go as Andrew scored his sixth before a third line brace from defenders Sam R and Alex.
Hallden and Lewis completed the rout on the penultimate shift.
Its difficult to judge this game. Jets had many very young players icing but somewhat surprisingly they had many good skaters amongst their roster.
That though was counteracted by lack of good stick skill or a passing game.
With a few months training sessions under their belt they could be a half decent team. Storm though capitalised on the Jet s weak game and they played reasonably well. The first line at times played a good passing game. Andrew ruled the show on the second line with his powerful wrist-shots that better keeper s than the Jets one would have trouble dealing with but he was supported well by Jake, whilst the third line was led by the industrious Henry and the dependable Alex and Sam R mopping up any threat at the back.
This was also third game on the trot that Alex and Andrew C claimed a shut-out and at least they did have to make some important saves to gain it.
The win keeps Storm level in top spot with Bracknell and Basingstoke
